ROA Off-Road Partner Pause Unveils Entry-Level Overland Trailer Under $60K to Capture Booming Adventure Market

Pause, in partnership with ROA Off-Road, has launched the Pause Restart R17RB, a $59,995 overland trailer designed to bridge the gap between entry-level recreational vehicles and premium expedition-grade units. The model debuted at the Forest River Dealer Expo before making its public appearance at Overland Expo East in Arrington, Virginia.
The introduction addresses a persistent market challenge: while the overlanding segment offers numerous budget-friendly tent and pop-up trailers, premium manufacturers like Pause have traditionally commanded prices starting at $130,000 and reaching well beyond $170,000. According to industry data, the overlanding segment has experienced double-digit growth annually, yet enthusiasts seeking professional-grade construction and engineering have faced limited options below the six-figure mark.
“We’re introducing a new product to our lineup, it’s a more cost-conscious product for the person who wants to go out and overland for the weekend or a week,” said Maynard Miller, founder of Pause Trailers.
The R17RB maintains Pause’s construction standards while achieving its price point through strategic engineering choices. The single-axle design features an e-coated and powder-coated 6-inch steel tube chassis with Curt independent suspension, supporting a composite shell with full insulation. At 20 feet 7 inches in total length and 11 feet in height, the unit remains manageable for varied terrain while providing essential amenities.

Standard features include a climate-controlled interior with Furrion Chill Cube 18K BTU air conditioning and heat pump system, ABS shower facilities, and an L-shaped dinette configuration. The trailer’s infrastructure supports extended off-grid capability through optional Victron solar packages, 306Ah Expion 360 batteries, and a 2,000W inverter/charger system. Tank capacities are 34 gallons fresh, 30 gallons each for gray and black water and incorporated 12-volt heating pads for four-season use.
Shane Stauffer, owner of ROA Off-Road, noted the model fills a specific market demand. “Here at ROA off-road we have people reaching out to us all the time saying I want to be a Roamer. I want to join the Roamer community, but all of your trailers are over $100,000. They’re not for the average person,” Stauffer explained. “Now Maynard has finally introduced something that hopefully a lot more people can afford and that is the all new Restart.”
The Restart R17RB completes Pause’s three-tier product strategy, joining existing models at higher price points. The company positions the trailer as an entry point for outdoor enthusiasts seeking manufactured quality typically associated with custom-built units.
