  • Edquisitive Montessori Shares What Years of Experience Have Taught About Kindergarten Readiness

Edquisitive Montessori Shares What Years of Experience Have Taught About Kindergarten Readiness

As registration season approaches, San Antonio early childhood provider says true readiness goes beyond ABCs—and research backs them up

SAN ANTONIO, TX, UNITED STATES, January 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — With kindergarten registration opening across San Antonio area school districts this spring, parents of preschoolers are asking a familiar question: Is my child ready?

After seven years of preparing children for this transition, Edquisitive Montessori says the answer is more nuanced than most parents expect—and that research increasingly supports a broader definition of readiness than letters and numbers alone.

“Parents often come to us focused on whether their child can count to 20 or write their name,” said Melissa Zamora, Head of Schools at Edquisitive Montessori. “Those skills matter. But kindergarten teachers will tell you that children who struggle academically are far easier to teach than children who can’t regulate their emotions, follow directions, or work with peers.”

Research supports this perspective. Studies show that when kindergarten teachers rank the skills most important for school readiness, they consistently prioritize social-emotional competencies—the ability to communicate needs, follow routines, manage frustration, and interact positively with others—alongside foundational academics.

A 2023 study published in Early Childhood Research Quarterly found that children’s patterns of skills across developmental domains predicted academic and social-emotional gains in kindergarten, suggesting that the whole constellation of readiness skills matters more than any single measure.
Edquisitive Montessori, which serves children from 10 weeks through age five at multiple San Antonio and Boerne locations, takes what they describe as a balanced approach to readiness. Their Montessori-inspired, inquiry-based curriculum addresses six developmental domains: language and literacy, cognitive and math skills, physical health and motor skills, social-emotional development, science and creative arts, and approaches to learning.
“Some people argue it’s too early to focus on academics with young children,” Melissa Zamora said. “We see it differently. The research is clear that the brain forms more than one million neural connections per second during the first few years of life. Children’s brains are built to learn during this window. The question isn’t whether to engage them intellectually—it’s how to do it in developmentally appropriate ways.”
The organization points to research showing that preschool gains in social-emotional skills contribute uniquely to kindergarten reading achievement and learning engagement, even after accounting for gains in vocabulary and early literacy. This finding reinforces their philosophy that academic and social-emotional development work together, not in opposition.
After seven years, Edquisitive has observed consistent patterns among children who transition successfully to kindergarten. Beyond recognizing letters and counting, these children demonstrate curiosity, persistence, the ability to concentrate, and confidence in their own abilities.
“Kindergarten today looks different than it did a generation ago,” Melissa noted. “There’s more academic rigor earlier. Children benefit from a head start—but that head start needs to include executive function, self-regulation, and social skills alongside academics. You can’t separate them.”
Edquisitive Montessori encourages parents evaluating kindergarten readiness to consider the whole child: Can they express their needs with words? Do they show enthusiasm for learning new things? Can they manage disappointment and keep trying when something is difficult? These questions, alongside academic benchmarks, paint a fuller picture of readiness.
The organization holds Texas Rising Star 4-Star ratings and Cognia accreditation across its campuses and accepts Child Care Services (CCS) and Child Care Aware (CCA) subsidies. Families interested in learning more about kindergarten preparation can schedule a campus tour or access Edquisitive’s free School Choice Guide for Boerne and San Antonio families at www.edquisitivemontessori.com/school-choice.

    — Mitchell Zuckoff, New York Times bestselling author

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, UNITED STATES, January 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The 1980s were a time of musical experimentation and collaboration, and two iconic musicians, Danny DeGennaro and Bob Weir, crossed paths during this era as members of the Grateful Dead family band “Kingfish.” As time went by, “Kingfish” evolved into several versions, always known for their fine guitar and vocal recordings. Now, as a tribute to the late Danny DeGennaro, original players and some new musicians have joined together to record several songs in his honor.

The album features a mix of original songs and covers, all with a unique twist that pays homage to DeGennaro’s musical style. Mulhern says, “This project was a labor of love for all of us. Danny was a true talent and it was an honor to work on this tribute album with such talented musicians.”

The album features a mix of original “Kingfish” members, including Michael O’Neill , Steve Shive, as well as new additions such as Paul Baroli Jr and Dan Galvano. Each musician brings their own unique sound and style to the album, creating a diverse and dynamic tribute to DeGennaro. The album also includes a special bonus track, a live recording of “Jump for Joy” featuring Michael O’Neill on lead vocals and guitar.

“Kingfish 2022 : A Tribute to Danny DeGennaro” was released on Feb 20 which would have been DeGennaro’s 67th birthday. DOHA, QATAR, January 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Doha Marathon by Ooredoo 2026 concluded on Friday, delivering its largest and most diverse edition to date, as 20,000 runners from 160 nationalities crossed the finish line along Doha’s iconic Corniche. A record-breaking performance marked the elite men’s race, with Olympic champion Tamirat Tola storming to victory over the 42km distance in a new course record of 2:05:40. From elite athletes competing at the highest level to families, children, and first-time runners, the marathon once again transformed the city into a shared stage for endurance, determination, and human connection.

This year’s edition attracted 2,200 international runners travelling from outside Qatar, further reinforcing Doha’s position as a key destination for major international sporting events.

    Champions Crowned Across Race Categories
The marathon featured five race categories—42km, 21km, 10km, 5km, and the Kids’ Fun Run, ensuring broad participation across age groups and abilities, while maintaining strong competitive standards.

The Awards Ceremony for the 42km and 21km Open Categories, along with the Al Adaam categories, took place on race day at the Marathon Village, while winners in the remaining categories were recognised during the Gala Dinner on Saturday, 17 January 2026.

Supporting Local Talent and National Participation

Dedicated to children with autism spectrum disorder, the initiative offered a supportive and inclusive race environment for children and their families.

The marathon also saw strong participation from athletes with disabilities, with participants taking part across race distances of up to 21km through complimentary race entry, reinforcing the event’s commitment to accessible and inclusive participation.

Reflecting on the marathon’s success, Sheikh Ali bin Jabor bin Mohammad Al Thani, Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Qatar and Chairman of the Doha Marathon by Ooredoo Organising Committee, said:

“The 2026 edition of the Doha Marathon by Ooredoo marked a defining milestone in the event’s journey, reflecting its continued growth in scale and international standing. Beyond the record participation, the marathon brought together elite athletes, para-athletes, families, children with autism, and first-time runners, highlighting its role as a unifying sporting platform aligned with Qatar’s vision for active living and inclusivity. We extend our sincere thanks to all partners, volunteers, and teams whose collective efforts delivered the largest edition in the marathon’s history.”

Beyond competition, the marathon continues to deliver meaningful social impact, with proceeds supporting local charitable initiatives, reflecting Ooredoo’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.

    Looking Ahead
As the final runners crossed the finish line and celebrations concluded across the Marathon Village, the Doha Marathon by Ooredoo once again proved to be more than a sporting event. It stood as a powerful expression of unity, inclusion, and global connection, bringing together people from all walks of life through the shared language of sport.

  • Sea Lime Lures to Highlight Patented Offshore Trolling Lure at Annual Stuart Boat Show

Sea Lime Lures to Highlight Patented Offshore Trolling Lure at Annual Stuart Boat Show

TAMPA, FL, UNITED STATES, January 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Sea Lime Lures, a Tampa-based fishing gear company known for its patented offshore trolling lure, will showcase its American-made fishing innovation at the upcoming Annual Stuart Boat Show, one of the largest marine events on Florida’s Treasure Coast.

Founded in 2016 by local angler and entrepreneur Clint Owens, Sea Lime Lures designs and produces all of its products in Florida using materials sourced within driving distance of Tampa Bay. The company’s commitment to American craftsmanship and coastal innovation has earned recognition from both recreational anglers and professional captains alike.

Sea Lime’s flagship 8.25-inch offshore trolling lure features a U.S.-patented water-channel design that allows water to flow directly through the lure, creating a natural, lifelike swimming motion that closely mimics live bait. Unlike traditional trolling lures that rely solely on surface action, Sea Lime’s internal channel technology works with the water to produce balance, movement, and consistency in a wide range of offshore conditions.

The inspiration for the patented design came to Owens years ago while stopped at a red light in Queens, New York. Watching a flag wave effortlessly in the wind, he envisioned creating a lure that could replicate that same fluid motion underwater. That idea ultimately became Sea Lime’s proprietary water-channel technology.

“Fishing has always been about more than just catching fish for me,” said Clint Owens, Founder and President of Sea Lime Lures. “It’s about time on the water, relationships, and memories. Everything we build at Sea Lime is designed to help anglers experience more of those moments.”

Engineered with a replacement body system, the Sea Lime Lure allows anglers to adapt their setup based on target species and offshore conditions. Built using a combination of durable polycarbonate and flexible polyester materials, the lure is designed for offshore trolling use while maintaining realistic fish-like movement. Each lure is locally tested in Gulf waters before production to ensure real-world performance.

In addition to its presence at the Stuart Boat Show, Sea Lime Lures is also supporting a cause close to Owens’ heart this month. Prior to founding Sea Lime, Owens spent more than 20 years working with a nonprofit organization serving inner-city youth. Continuing that commitment to giving back, Owens will participate in the Tampa Bay Frogman Swim on Sunday, January 18, serving as the kayaker for a close friend swimming 3.5 miles across Tampa Bay to support veterans and first responders.

“Sea Lime has always been about more than selling fishing gear,” Owens added. “If we can use the company to support organizations that make a real difference in people’s lives, that’s something I’ll always prioritize.”

As a result, Sea Lime Lures will effectively be represented in two places at once — showcasing its patented offshore lure at the Stuart Boat Show while supporting the Frogman Swim back in Tampa Bay.

The Annual Stuart Boat Show features more than 200 local, national, and international exhibitors displaying boats both in-water and on land, along with marine accessories, electronics, engines, fishing gear, and nautical apparel. The event also supports the Marine Industries Association of the Treasure Coast, benefiting local waterways, community initiatives, and environmental efforts.

    About Sea Lime Lures
Sea Lime Lures is a Tampa-based fishing gear company specializing in American-made lures and accessories. Founded in 2016 by Clint Owens and his wife Bright, the company is best known for its patented offshore trolling lure that simulates natural bait movement by channeling water through the lure itself. Sea Lime Lures is committed to building high-quality, Florida-made products for recreational and competitive anglers. Learn more at www.sealimelures.com.

  • ENTREPRENEUR YOU’RE NOT ALONE Launches Globally, Supporting Italy-Based Nonprofit NON SEI SOLO

ENTREPRENEUR YOU’RE NOT ALONE Launches Globally, Supporting Italy-Based Nonprofit NON SEI SOLO

A global initiative providing resources, community, and funding for entrepreneurs while supporting the Italy-based nonprofit NON SEI SOLO

MILANO, MILAN, ITALY, January 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Today, ENTREPRENEUR YOU’RE NOT ALONE, a global platform founded to support entrepreneurs at their most critical moments, officially launches worldwide. Built in Italy and activated through international partners, the company’s mission is brought to life through its support of the nonprofit NON SEI SOLO, Italian for You Are Not Alone.

ENTREPRENEUR YOU’RE NOT ALONE was created in response to a reality few speak openly about: entrepreneurs don’t collapse under pressure because they lack capability. They struggle because, at a certain point, everything depends on them. Decisions are constant. Stakes are high. And the space to think, clearly, calmly, and honestly, disappears.

The platform exists to step in at that exact moment.

Unlike traditional advisory services or coaching models, ENTREPRENEUR YOU’RE NOT ALONE does not sell solutions or promise shortcuts. Through its partnership with NON SEI SOLO, it provides access to free, human-centered guidance, practical decision support, and one-to-one connection with individuals who have built and led businesses themselves. The focus is not growth at any cost, but clarity, stability, and sustainability, when they matter most.

The impact extends far beyond a single founder. When an entrepreneur regains footing, businesses stay open, jobs remain intact, families remain supported, and communities continue moving forward. This understanding is central to the mission: saving a business is often about protecting an entire ecosystem of lives connected to it.

Headquartered in Italy and operating with a global reach, ENTREPRENEUR YOU’RE NOT ALONE brings together partners, specialists, and contributors across borders who believe entrepreneurship is not only an economic driver, but a human responsibility. The initiative is built on trust, discretion, and action, meeting people where they are, without judgment or pressure.

The platform officially launches today and is now live at:

    @entrepreneuryourenotalone

Entrepreneurs seeking support can engage immediately. Those in a position to give back are invited to contribute through NON SEI SOLO, turning success into stability for others when it is needed most.

Because no entrepreneur should have to carry the weight alone.

    ABOUT ENTREPRENEUR YOU’RE NOT ALONE
Entrepreneur You’re Not Alone is a global initiative created to support entrepreneurs through access to resources, community, and meaningful mental-health–forward programming, while generating tangible impact beyond borders. Founded on the belief that entrepreneurship should not be isolating, the platform exists to normalize support, connection, and sustainable growth for founders at every stage.

The initiative proudly supports NON SEI SOLO, an Italy-based nonprofit headquartered in Milan (MI), whose mission centers on providing support, education, and community for entrepreneurs navigating personal and professional challenges. Through strategic partnerships, fundraising efforts, and global awareness campaigns, Entrepreneur You’re Not Alone helps amplify and fund the nonprofit’s work on the ground in Italy.

By uniting entrepreneurial communities worldwide with transparent giving and measurable outcomes, Entrepreneur You’re Not Alone bridges purpose and action, ensuring that no entrepreneur has to navigate the journey alone.

Daisy Caps Breakout Year in Franchising with Rapid Expansion Across the U.S.

Emerging franchisor signs 18 franchise deals in its first full year of franchising

NEWPORT BEACH, CA, UNITED STATES, January 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Daisy, the nation’s leading smart home and small business technology installation and services company, today announced a milestone first full year for its franchise business, marked by rapid expansion, strong demand from experienced owner-operators, and disciplined growth across key U.S. markets.

Since completing its first franchise conversion and acquisition on February 15, 2024, Daisy has quickly emerged as the most compelling new franchise platform in the smart-home services industry. In 2025, the company signed 18 franchise agreements, bringing its total franchise network to 25, while also completing six strategic acquisitions, creating the fastest-growing platform in the custom integration and smart-home services category.

“By any measure, this was an extraordinary year, not just for Daisy’s goal of building a beloved nationwide home technology brand, but for the wonderful entrepreneurs who chose to build their future with Daisy,” said Hagan Kappler, co-founder and CEO of Daisy. “We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished in such a short period of time. The pace of our growth reflects the demand for a better, more scalable model that truly supports operators.”

“This year proved that you can honor what this industry has always done well while still reimagining what’s possible,” said Dion Persson, co-founder of Daisy and head of growth and M&A. “When an industry long shaped by experienced operators begins attracting this level of new leadership talent, it validates both the strength of the opportunity in this space as well as the strength of the business model, long-term vision, operating platform, and culture we’ve built at Daisy.”

    Franchise Growth and Market Expansion

Throughout 2025, Daisy attracted both seasoned integrators and business owners seeking to grow beyond the limitations of independent operation while preserving the craftsmanship and client relationships that define great custom integration businesses as well as new entrepreneurs coming from a wide variety of impressive backgrounds. Franchise agreements signed during the year spanned a diverse set of markets and business profiles, reinforcing Daisy’s appeal across geographies and experience levels.

With these additions, Daisy now operates in 25 markets, combining franchise conversions, greenfield franchise launches, and company-owned locations under a unified national brand.

    Strategic Acquisitions Accelerate Scale

In parallel with its franchising efforts, Daisy executed six acquisitions in 2025, including:
    • Electronic Environments (New York City, NY)
    • DC Homes (Portsmouth, NH)
    • Millennium Systems Design (Orlando, FL), along with two additional tuck-in acquisitions
    • Automation Design (Kalamazoo, MI)

These acquisitions strengthened Daisy’s presence in several key metropolitan and regional markets while serving as live laboratories for refining systems, service programs, and technology infrastructure that are then deployed across the franchise network.

    Platform Built for Long-Term Growth

Daisy’s franchise model is designed to help integrators scale sustainably. Franchise partners gain access to centralized marketing and sales support, a unified business technology stack, financial and operational tools, recruiting and training resources, and ongoing business coaching. A cornerstone of the platform is DaisyCare, the company’s recurring service and support program which helps franchise partners build predictable revenue, deepen customer relationships, and increase long-term business value.

“Our focus has never been growth for growth’s sake,” Kappler added. “We’re building the systems, standards, and economics that allow our franchise partners to grow profitably and deliver exceptional experiences for their clients.”

    Looking Ahead to 2026

With strong momentum entering the new year, Daisy plans to continue expanding its franchise footprint, deepen support for existing partners, and selectively pursue acquisitions in high-potential markets. Interest from prospective franchisees remains robust as entrepreneurs look to capitalize on the accelerating demand for professional smart-home services.
